MEET NANCY
Clinical Therapist, Master Art Practitioner and Trainer
By now I have identified myself as a lifelong learner, I found training for ART in Calgary where I went to complete Basic, Advanced and Enhanced Training. I have been a Master ART practitioner for 5 years now. The results are incredible, profound, and lasting. I love my work. Using ART as my main modality I see the results people often only dream about. I am currently working on steps to become an ART trainer. This therapy allows clients to get better sooner.
As long as I can remember I was helping people. Maybe growing up in a large family instilled the desire and some of the skills of becoming a therapist. My career of helping others through their difficulties began as a youth care worker. I spent over a decade working with youth and their families. After returning to school, where I completed an honors degree in psychology at STFX University my focus broadened to all age groups. My approach also became more focused. I was able to bring a trauma-informed attachment-based theory approach to my work.
I spent many years working with all age groups. I loved every minute of my work. Again, I returned to school and completed my Masters in Education in Counselling at Acadia University. I also became certified as a DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) therapist. I, along with a colleague brought the program to this area and I was dedicated to the care of those most affected by mental and emotional health difficulties. Again, I loved every minute of it. However, as I continued to grow in my professional life I found myself looking for the best, the least intrusive, and the most effective way of assisting others in their healing journey. I attended Exposure Therapy training and did not find it a good fit. While at this training, I learned about ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) an eye movement treatment that helps to quickly resolve anxiety, reduces depressive symptoms, past trauma, and grief, and assists with addressing substance use issues. The really great thing I heard was that healing can take place in 1 to 5 sessions.

I am the first trainer in the Maritimes and the second trainer in Canada. My colleague Colleen Clark is an ART trainer in the West.
